“Anywhere else in the world, this would be in a museum”, says Andrew Whitehead, priest at St Agnes, Cawston in Norfolk. A visiting museum curator recently gasped when seeing him hold a fifteenth-century chalice in his bare hands. “We would wear gloves”, the curator said. “We use it every day”, Whitehead replied. “It’s a cup.”
