I've been having fun imagining ways to waste TV Licensing enforcement officers time and to annoy them so they have less energy to collect what is essentially a poll tax from the most vulnerable in society and so far my favorite idea is being overly procedural and verbose feel free to copy and adapt my script of a potential interaction I declare it to be CC0, I mostly did it for fun I may never see one of these people.

@nieuemma As far as the law is concerned its exactly the same afaik, theres a wikipedia page detailing just how unenforced it is[1], a labour MP Lisa Nandy recently called it "unenforceable"[1]

On Thursday 2024-01-11 on #BBCRadio4 "PM" programme, in an item to do with injustices in the legal system in the UK, court reporter Tristan Kirk spoke to Evan Davis about the "single justice procedure" where a sole judge decides on cases in a closed-setting without the person/organization in question being present.
One case was a young woman who "lacked mental capacity" and so her financial affairs were run for her by the local authority; her television licence fee was not paid so #TVLicensing made a prosecution; the local authority (the ones who were responsible for making her payments) entered a guilty plea on her behalf!
Wow - #TVLicensing and #GreenwichCouncil leave a woman with #downssyndrome and #learningdifficulties with a #criminalrecord after the Council who manage her finances screw up her direct debit, and then plead guilty for her in the fast track prosecution process after their screw up.
OMG just got this spam text. They have no clue how tv licenses work in the UK. You don't need a license to watch TV, as in the TV will work without one you just get hounded to high heaven if you don't have one at your address #tvlicensing #tvlicence #spam
The UK #TVLicensing website assumes, when you want to cancel your TV license , that you’re moving house. We’re cancelling because we no longer wish to fund the #BBC with the fee, given they are an organisation that are attempting to stifle free speak in support of human rights and victims of the worlds atrocities. Perhaps they should update the language used to be more open minded. What do you think?
So #TVLicensing got 5 points for being the first to reply to the many emails and web forms I've had to fill in this week. They then lose 50 points because it's clear the reason they were able to reply so fast is because they didn't bother to read the questions that I've asked
