#TeachMeet

2025-06-22

"Exploring the TeachMeet phenomenon: motivations and perspectives of participants" The 2nd of 3 papers from me, @rmillwood and Keith Johnston representing and discussing my PhD research into #teachmeet is now a publication in the Professional Development in Education journal. Many thanks to each participant who shared their experiences, to each reviewer and editor who moved it though the mill and improved it in the process.

Wow. Can’t believe my performance poem and art about #compassion for the Geographical Association Conference #TeachMeet was almost four years ago now! youtu.be/PtQINOLmsj8?si=igT9dV

Really has made me think how lucky I am to still feel part of the #GeographyTeacher community and how humbled I am to be nominated for the Presidency. Please don’t forget to vote if you are a GA member: lnkd.in/ebxCrfPn

I am looking forward to all of , but am a wee bit biased towards these parts (I have to be as I'll be taking part!):

GASTA - lightning talks with audience participation - looking forward to being MC. [Think on rollercoaster]

"Hey AI" Open Forum facilitated by Tony Riley

@turtlestitch hallway demonstration of open source coded physical computing along with @rmillwood @jhegarty and Helen O'Kelly

Most of all, looking forward to meeting CESI folk in person.

See you there.

A message to all those who have been involved in Teachmeets over the years. Did you know next year will be 20years since the first Teachmeet was held, and it'll be 18 years since the first Teachmeet BETT? A very small group of us have started discussing what we can do in 2026 to mark this milestone. A big teachmeet, lots of local teachmeets?

@dajb no worries - it's more about finding folk here in the fediverse
hashtag was one of the good things on the birdsite even as it imploded ... many have gone to B'sky and probs found each other ... I'm sure there are more than just us few here.

@geichel same sentiment here. I did get great bounty from being on the bird site for many years, esp. when for researching , but that all evaporated.

ad hoc, pop-up town-twinning at Trinity College Dublin

It just happens that Brentwood in Essex is twinned with Landkreis Roth, near Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany. And it just happened that at a twinning event, Richard Millwood, Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin got in conversation with Bavarian teacher-trainer Waltraud Ziegler, who mentoined she was bring a group of German teachers (of English as a language) to Dublin in October.
