First attempt at tempeh seems to have been a success, though there's room for improvement.

I think I should have dried the beans better and cooked them a little less. I suspect the extra moisture inhibited mycelial growth around the periphery. Lots of water droplets visible on the banana leaf.

@focus404 Keen to hear your expert input :)

Overall I'm happy. My incubator setup provided consistent temps and the process was fun.

Getting hands-on with myceliation again after many months of punching code; the perfect activity to celebrate the Solstice.

Cultivation offers such a nourishing counterpoint to computing. It is an embodied practice; smell the microbial activity after the beans have soaked for the night, feel the hulls peel away as you massage the beans, go outside to select and cut a banana leaf—sweating beneath the Sun. Take every action with keen awareness and excitement, hopeful for the future.
