I know I'm not supposed to like the MiL in #TheMatchmakers, but E13 does make me a fan. She found out her husband killed their son for [spoilers full of trigger warnings] and she gets full revenge. Props to her. 10/10, A+ work.

Ha Na and the Crown Prince is a *very awkward* story line that is probably historically accurate but no less uncomfortable for that. I'm not a fan of age gaps in Romance. I see why it was done, I just don't personally like it.

E10 of #TheMatchmakers has such an accurate portrayal of sibling relationships. She's sitting there sobbing and he's awkwardly trying to apologize and sighing because he got it all wrong but he just wants to protect his baby sister. I love it.

The MiL in #TheMAtchmakers is such a complex character. Yes, she's evil. She's plotting the death of the crown prince so her own bloodline can rule. But she does it for good reasons and is a decent human being (-ish) who is doing evil for good reasons (sort of).

I read the fan theory that the male lead in #TheMatchmakers was neurospicy and he 100% reads as neurospicy. I'm not sure if the writers fully intended that, because it wouldn't have been labeled as much of anything in the era of the show (except pig-headed and problematic), but it works.

This drama is currently airing for free on VIKI. Not a huge #Rowoon fan but really like the FL #ChoiYiHyun. Finished ep 3. So far it is a nice light hearted rom com with limited drama. FL can also be seen in #AllOfUsAreDead, #School2021, #MyCountry:TheNewAge and #HospitalPlaylist

Rowoon has grown into a great comedic actor & this has some very funny scenes. The romance is reserved because both leads are widowed & of a social position that prevents remarriage.

Although titled "The Matchmakers," the main story is a political mystery. Because there are so many people on each side of the government involved & the main crime happened 8 yrs ago, the plot is complicated. It kept me guessing.

The contrasting story of the matchmakers is humorous, filled with shenanigans, & eventually ties in with the political intrigue. It also has a lot of characters which are difficult to keep straight. Be prepared to keep track of everyone.

The side characters are so enjoyable. The costumes have such beautiful colors. The cinematography & sound are delicious.

So, this year's Christmas schedule is the emptiest that I've ever had. Since nature hates a void, I've jammed it chock-full of delightful #kdrama.
Finished #ForecastingLoveAndWeather last night and I enjoyed the angsty view of romance with lot of weather forecasting thrown in.
I'm jointly rewatching #DoomAtYourService and the show is delightful, second time around.
Finished #TheMatchmakers and I loved the leads and the fabulous costumes. Too many plots for me, though.

Day 24: Favorite costumes of 2023?

I'm not a fan of the super oversized look, so I was thrilled to see the costumes in "My Demon" - the design, the colors & the coordination between the characters is gorgeous. I still can't believe pink checks can be a power suit - but they made it look great.

Honorable mention goes to "The Story of Park's Marriage Contract" because the current hanbok fashions with that beautiful embroidery are just amazing.

Also to "The Matchmakers" - love Rowoon's pinks & lilac, super long-sleeved silk robes & the FLs colorful hanboks are stunning.

Yeah, my browser's default translator was terrible - you could get the gist, but some were hilarious. I copied & pasted quite a few into Papago - it has a much better translator & things sounded much more plausible. 😂
