Just finished watching “The Princess Royal” with Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe 🌸 It was a slightly unusual drama in that it is a story of a marriage more than it is a love story that is ends in marriage. It is an interesting look into what power does to people and who can wield it.

Besides the main couple, the side couple was really good: Cheng Guo and Yi Daqian. Chen Heyi was also very nuanced as the main antagonist.

Just watching episode 20 of “The Princess Royal” 🌸 Pei Weixuan and Li Rong are talking together after a failed assassination attempt. He thought they would have a romantic day in a field of buttercups. She had used herself as bait to lure out enemies. They have completely miscommunicated, because she didn’t tell him her plans. Very sad situation but she hasn’t quite grasped the emotional situation and so has disrespected him.

Just watching episode 14 of “The Princess Royal” with Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe 🌸 The drama is about a married couple that is reborn in order to re-live their lives again. The princess has just scolded his entire family who tricked him and beat him, because he refused to be manipulated. Very satisfying with such a strong female character, standing up to bullies.

Now that I've completed #ThePrincessRoyal, I feel like I'm finally ready for the schlocky, melodramatic & gothicness of #TheDouble.
About the The Princess Royal, I enjoyed it, but the last arc wasn't as good as I wanted it to be (classic #CDrama syndrome lol).
But on the whole a pleasant watch.
Also hunting for a good #KDrama - I need a good intense thriller like Flower of Evil and Memorist. If you know anything like this lemme know. I'm eyeing Flex X COP - any good?

Many #CDrama fans love Zhang Linghe, especially after Story of Kunning Palace. But I find him a just an okay actor who is faaaar away from being a Rooster award nominee. But I must say that he's vastly improved in #ThePrincessRoyal, where he plays a 20-year-old with the memories of a 40+ year old man. The second chance romance story is refreshing, and it helps a lot that he's paired with a very good actress. I love their old married couple vibes.
