Card 157: Spirits of Venom
Another really busy card w/very rudimentary figure work.
Love that crossover name, though.

Card 156: Infinity War
Infinity War was my introduction to all the Adam Warlock/Thanos stuff - and really the cosmic side of Marvel
This is a packed card, but it sure seems like they put the B team on these Famous Battle cards, doesn't it?
Card 155: Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six
Not the sharpest figure work, but the layout captures the frenetic energy of a "pile on Spidey" Sinister Six battle (even if the specific battle being cited involved more heroes).
Card 154: X-Cutioner's Song
The first "crossover as Famous Battle" card!
Given this is where Stryfe force-feeds baby food to Scott & Jean, rendering them as action figures in his hands nicely captures the story's essence.
Card 153: Punisher vs Thorn
This just looks like Punisher is fighting himself wearing a fur coat.
Card 152: Spider-Man vs Venom
I do like how they mix up the featured confrontations, sometimes the first gets spotlighted, sometimes a notable recent one, etc.
Card 151: War Machine
And now, a battle that is just a character shooting stuff off-card. 😀
I tell you what though, reading the story detailed on the cardback in real-time (or close to it), it def felt like a BIG DEAL.
Card 150: Thor vs Loki
Perhaps no character's arc from '90-'93 charts better across their trading cards than Thor. You can just read the cardbacks of his solo cards & stuff like this & get the gist of his story in those years.
Card 149: Wolverine vs Sabretooth
Why does the fur fly when these two meet? They're hairy guys, sure, but not, like, Beast or Nightcrawler.
Anyway, Jarvinen gives this a nice, clean, almost Wieringo-esque, look.

Card 148: Silver Surfer vs. Morg
[Will Ferrel in Zoolander voice]: That Morg's SO HOT right now.

Card 147: Ghost Rider vs Lilith
Love the mohawk Lilith is rocking here.

Card 146: Cable vs Stryfe
The purple gas cloud is weird, obscuring big chunks of the figures in awkward ways. I guess it's supposed to be time eating them?

Card 145: Spider vs. Carnage
New category: Famous Battles. Which also doubles at times as a quasi-"Events" category. The "bookend" headshots on either side of the cardback text block is a fun design choice.
Card 143: The Secret of Spider-Man's Parents
A 90s mystery masquerading as a Silver Age one. Which I'm sure will end well and not be a lead-in to a tortured saga involving clones...
Card 142: The Sixth Member of the Infinity Watch
Even moreso than the X-Men stuff, this is pretty 90s. I'm pretty sure it turned out to be Thanos?

Try this again...
Card 141: The Face of Doctor Doom
A rare "mystery" dating to the Silver Age.
There's two cards in this subset about someone's face, which isn't a lot, but also, seems like a lot, you know?

Card 140: The Fate of the X-Men

Card 140: The Fate of the X-Men
Shades of the "Fall of the Mutants" promo.
It has always bugged me that Jarvinen puts Wolfsbane, a character w/no connection whatsoever to the mystery, so front-and center.
Card 137: The Origin of Cable
Things I love about this card:
1. It's another mystery that's basically "who dis?"
2. It gets solved relatively soon.
3. Lil' Cable.
4. #GeorgePerez drawing characters like Grizzly & Askani.
Card 139: The Origin of Ghost Rider
Another "origin" mystery!
I forget how this one shook out, but I'm pretty sure it leads to Dan Ketch & Johnny Blaze being brothers, and that always seemed really dumb to me.
