I decided to use my non-existent departmental authority at the Department of Geosciences and Geography of #UniHelsinki, and took down some flyers and adverts for events from 5+ years ago, and hung up some cool maps of #Estonia from 1992. The maps were just laying on the coffee table of our break room, and I could not let them get any coffee stains.

Early career researchers in computational early universe physics, come and work in Helsinki! 💕

This year we are hiring up to four postdoctoral researchers! We have a friendly, supportive group and we do some cool early universe physics with computers.

For what it's worth, I arrived here after my doctorate 13 years ago and except for two excursions (to Stavanger and Nottingham) never really left. It's very nice here.

In the first presentation titled 'What is Fake about Fake AI?' by David Moats talks about how we need to change the framing around it before accusing it to be crap. He illustrates it through examples in AI in recruitment and music.
He provokes discussion on the topic through the lens of novelty instead of accuracy and leaves us with the question 'If diversity is the problem for hiring, then what's so bad about some randomness?'

Successfully completed transcribing 10 of the 12 interviews for my research. Have to go old school for the last 2 as they are in Hindi.
Also going to present my work on algorithmic bias and journalistic autonomy on Tiktok and YouTube in #unihelsinki.
So wish me luck for both.
