Most of the known styling issues with the #vael custom theme have been updated/fixed for v4.2.0.

There's tons of UI updates, new features with search, profiles, privacy settings, etc.

Updated to Mastodon v4.1.9.

Also installed Elasticsearch, which enables basic full-text search on the #vael instance.

The imminent v4.2.0 release will feature some expansion/improvements to this feature, including per-post opt-in, to give you better control of what (if any) of your content is fully searchable. It should also permit searching user profile/bio content.

Perhaps another nudge to evaluate/setup a #Lemmy instance for #vael.

The update to the v4.1.1 Mastodon release is completed. #vael

The v4.0.2 update was successful, but as expected there is just some cosmetic issues due to our custom styling conflicting with the new layout.

I'll be working on fixing those next. #vael

No set time yet but there will likely be some instance server maintenance happening this weekend.

Mastodon v4.0 was released so we'll need to apply those updates. It contains some big changes related to the app's appearance so there may be some additional up & down and some styling weirdness over the following days while I adjust things. #vael

I've had a "join or create a Mastodon instance" reminder in my TODO's for at least half a year now.

The sale of Twitter this week gave that task some additional energy.

So here's the first iteration of #vael, an instance focused on artists, musicians, devs, & other like-minded creatives. Likely just myself for now, though I'd like to open it up to a relatively small number of those who relate with our stated values, and build a little "local" community in addition to a federated one.
