#XFilesDay

2024-09-10

I thought the fediverse would be completely covered with this, but it looks like it is only me, about to sit down to watch the pilot, on September 10th, all over again....

Or is there anyone else "out there" with their DVDs ?

If there is, you may enjoy seeing this original promo card from 1995. Now this was P2, but it was the first one to advertise the cards. P1 only spoke of the comics.

okay this is not the greatest card of all time, kind of dark and not too focused, but it is a very important one, because it is the first ever promo card for the cards which followed, or at least for series one, as issued by Topps.
At the bottom there is a blue strip in which it has dark thin capital letters spelling out the X Files. Each letters is surrounded by white ovals with a kind of ghostly light blue aura. The exception is the X which is white and has a perfect dark blue circle, edged in light blue. Slightly off centre along that border is a big letter X in dark blue with a white cross beam of light behind it, and a big circle almost covering behind the letter X, which, as on screen, has a break in the top left hand diagonal line.
Above this the picture is of the two leads, dressed very businesslike, and I always think they look kind of serious, like they were not sure if they had done wrong in taking the parts. Of course, as we all know, they did great. And continue to do so.
Just wish the picture was a tad brighter. However now I have put this card up, you may well see more.....The back of the card and not a very interesting reverse picture wise, with a black centre surrounded by spooky light blue smoke or cloud to make a kind of circular cut out.
However the words are great, and it reads, all in capital letters :
From the hit Fox TV series comes the most anticipated trading card series of the year.

In fact this was not quite correct, there were only six foil cards, not the nine billed here.
