#aha26

I had the privilege of presenting at the AHA conference this past weekend in Chicago. This is the poster I presented on Folk Music and Cold War Culture. It came out of my dissertation. #aha26 #Histodon #history #folk

A conference poster that discusses The American Folk Revival, 1958 - 1965. The author presents ideas about folk taxonomy and how historical actors used the work "ethnic".

It's the @ucpress.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy book display at #AHA26! Thrilled to see the book cover with the silvery oval mirror on the crimson background on the banner (left), on the table & on the front of the catalogue: HUMANS: A MONSTROUS HISTORY! For nerds with a conscience, this booth is not to be missed. 1/

A gorgeous University of California Press book display: the background wall is a white banner with a row of book covers, in a pleasingly jagged horizontal line. On the three sides of the table around the booth are rows of books, some with labels sticking out. At the front is a table, three chairs behind it, and various announcement cards on the desk, together with lots of GORGEOUS SWAG (pens, bookmarks, badges) and printed conference catalogues.

"A historian who pays full attention to their sources can’t help but be transformed into a monster by the archive." At #AHA26? On the hunt for #syllabus books that integrate texts, maps, and images as sources? What about something that blends science, society, literature, & pop culture? 1/

I shall not be at #AHA26 this year but HUMANS: A MONSTROUS HISTORY from @ucpress.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy will be in the book exhibit - booth 314! Feel free to tag me in any photos you may take with it (pleeeeez!). It looks like this: 1/

A copy of HUMANS in yellow lettering with black-framed, silvery, oval mirror. Next to it is another copy from the back: an orange-red hardback book with irregular black lines reminiscent of mineral strips in rock or spooky webbing sits. Four blurbs in white, with authors’ names in yellow capitals, are separated by the black lines. At the bottom are the name and website of the press Two copies of HUMANS: A Monstrous History, spines facing outwards, are at either end of the image.
