Brooklyn-based Auspex launches the Templum label with the cosmically inspired techno EP, Absent Guard.

I'm still working on my #Faircamp website. My server is having unrelated DNS and subdomain issues, but it should be ready soon.

I've added the whole #AUSPEX soundtrack as a single playlist and it's pretty nice (and also kind of weird) to have my whole previous year summed up as nearly 7 hours of experimental #ambient music on a single page.

A screenshot of my AUSPEX soundtrack page made with Faircamp. Black and white with that lone pixelated figure holding a torch, and a massive column of tracks and wavwforms filling the page.

I'm quite amazed by the amount of free time I have since I've completed #AUSPEX. It probably took me at least 2 hours a day.

Which means it's time I can now spend more casually making music, with little to no pressure since I can refine my track all week long, even if I still add a new pattern every day.

Turns out the weekly beats pace is much more relaxed than what I expected.

The last part of the #AUSPEX soundtrack is out! Apparently I’ve managed to release one album per month while simultaneously working on the game and adding a new level every day.

If you listen to the twelve albums in chronological order, you should get something similar to playing the whole game after entering the closest door on the right. But without falling again and again in the bottomless abyss…

The adventure continues tomorrow in a different format. Stay tuned :)

In 2025, to keep the #AUSPEX momentum, I thought about posting one daily loop then assembling a weekly snapshot to make a 52 track mix for the whole year.

I've written down a set of rules to define how a pattern should evolve, but I realize the result would be more interesting if I loosened the rules and just focused on releasing one track per week, while keeping this daily evolving mix idea.

So... this year I'm kind of doing my own #WeeklyBeats.

I'll post new tracks on Sundays :)

That's it, #AUSPEX day 366 has come.

No, you won't know how it ends and what's up those stairs unless you play the game.

Thank you all for following and supporting my absurd project, this made my year :tealheart:

I'll publish a detailed article about the whole process soon. There's still one last album to be released, and a few atrocious collision boxes to fix.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, I'm starting something similar in 2025, though exclusively focused on music. Which means... Tomorrow LOL

Stay tuned and Happy New Year :)

The 366 levels (well, 367 if you count the starting room) are available here, for free:

The AUSPEX is climbing up a gigantic set of ancient stairs, from the darkness to more darkness (and likely more stairs, but who knows?) And there's still that static grey setting sun at the exact same position in the background, maybe it was all a big lie and zero day happened since the beginning of the journey. The torch is real though. Thanks for reading my awful image descriptions during the entirety of 2024, or ever if it's the first time, and see you next year :P

#AUSPEX day 365 is out.

Dead gods all the way down.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is standing on a pillar where three narrow pipe-like bridges are joining. Behind the torch bearer, a brazier is burning on another pillar. In front, there's a massive totem-like structure made of giant cyberskeletons sitting on thrones and stacked upon each other. It's all pretty dark and eerie.
2024-12-29

Yeah, well, it's #AUSPEX day 364.

And here's darkness enclosing darker darkness.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is standing on some kind of hanging bridge structure suspended by massive chains that seems to enclose a black void in the center. With the exception of a dim grey sun on the horizon and vertical white neon lines, it's near complete darkness.
2024-12-28

Hey, it's #AUSPEX day 363.

We're visiting a valley with some hypothetical future kings.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is standing on a platform flying above a dark valley flanked by giant sitting statues with white neon patterns. It looks like a river of pure darkness, with a bleak grey sun setting in the distance.
2024-12-27

Here comes #AUSPEX day 362.

We're getting close to the end, so it's probably time to get a little dramatic.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is standing on a glass platform with a burning brazier behind them. They're facing a massive landscape of neon pillars and chains emerging from the dark abyss below. In the distance, the silhouettes of twin portals can be seen in front of a grey setting sun.

#AUSPEX day 361 is out.

Wandering deconstructed realities.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is walking in labyrinthine black and white cyberstructure, with a mirrored version floating above. A curved horizon with a grey setting sun is visible in the narrow space between the two twin layers.
2024-12-25

Seems like it's #AUSPEX day 360.

Apparently it's also an important day in some parts of the world, but not as important as pinging @alderwick for this special occasion.

We probably should have 360 days in a year, it would feel much more satisfying.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is standing somewhere in an very complex black and white structure with neon lights and giant cyberskeletons sitting in random places, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas or something I guess, even if this has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas.
2024-12-24

It's #AUSPEX day 359.

Look at all these pretty lights.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is looking at some futuristic cityscape, or possibly just a bunch of monoliths with neon patterns, from a platform above which a giant cyberskeleton is sitting in a throne.
2024-12-23

#AUSPEX day 358 has gone live.

Maybe we should just give up.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is turned towards a grey sun setting over some geometric cityscape with a variety of white neon patterns on black buildings. There may or may not be an exit looking like an empty archway in the distance.
2024-12-22

Hey, so maybe it's #AUSPEX day 357?

Or maybe not, because if the sun never sets, days don't technically exist.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is contemplating a strange futuristic cityscape, or possible a giant landcape-shaped cyborg. It's a vast chaos of black geometric structures and white neon light, so, who knows?
2024-12-21

#AUSPEX day 356 has been released.

And the future still looks dead.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is walking on the roof of possible buildings in a cybercity of some sort, with black architecture, white neon patterns, and the occasional oddly shaped monolith.
2024-12-20

#AUSPEX day 355 is out.

But we're still in the labyrinth. And it's watching.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is walking in dark water in a labyrinth with black walls and crude white neon patterns that may remind of electronic circuits, or maybe bones, or wrenches, or eyes, or all of this simultaneously.
2024-12-19

Well yes, it's #AUSPEX day 354.

And we're not closer to any desirable future.

Play the new level here:
lectronice.itch.io/auspex.

A lone pixelated figure holding a torch is standing in noise-water, contemplating its pitch black depth. A brazier is burning in the foreground on some kind of cyberaltar, and black pillars with white neon lines are shining in the distance.
