The sheer arrogance of this is eye watering.

The Australian mining company applying to mine the South Taranaki seabed wants iwi to jump on board and “get to work keeping an eye on the environment” whether they want seabed mining or not.

Trans-Tasman Resources' chair Alan Eggers fails to read the room. All eight Taranaki iwi oppose TTR's destructive seabed mining plans. TTR is banking on getting the go-ahead via the Luxon government's fast track process. TTR wants to suck up 50 million tons of iron sand every year for 35 years to extract vanadium, iron and titanium. Experts say it will have a devastating impact on rare marine life.

This guy REALLY can't read the room. NOBODY wants seabed mining in Taranaki. Chris Hipkins and the Labour Party should now commit to overturning any fast-tracked consent given. That would stop them in their tracks. Petition below👇 #BanSeabedMining www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3607...

Trans-Tasman Resources has failed again and again to alleviate concerns that its seabed mining project won't cause environmental harm in the beautiful South Taranaki Bight. Taranaki Regional Council needs to listen to the local community, iwi and hapū, the fishing and offshore wind industries, surfers and boaties who're opposed to TTR's destructive seabed mining plans.

If the Luxon government allows Trans-Tasman Resources to start seabed mining off the coast of Taranaki, it could pave the way for a deep sea mining free-for-all around the Pacific.

More than 1200 people turned out on World Oceans Day in a series of paddle outs to protest against seabed mining. The tide against seabed mining is growing stronger. No seabed mining in Aotearoa!

Seabed mining in the South Taranaki Bight is incompatible with the development of an offshore wind industry. The Luxon government has an unhealthy fixation on extractive industries and fossil fuels, instead of paving the way for a renewable energy source.

Nice. We need more leadership like this to #BanSeabedMining. A Whanganui councillor has brought her campaign against seabed mining to local politicians in New Plymouth, saying their silence isn’t good enough www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3606...

Our new seabed mining petition calls on Labour leader Chris Hipkins to take a stand against seabed mining. He says he's opposed but has so far not committed to overturning any seabed mining consents which could be granted under the Luxon government's fast track process.

The Luxon Govt is hell-bent on starting seabed mining, but they won't be around forever.
If the Labour Party commits to cancelling any fast-tracked seabed mining consents when they are next in Government, it could be enough to stop it ever happening.
