On March 17, the #International #Criminal #Court in The Hague issued an #arrest #warrant for Russian President Vladimir #Putin and Russian children's commissioner #Maria #Lvova-#Belova. They were charged with being responsible for the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia -- a #war #crime under international legislation

Lvova-Belova has said that more than 700,000 Ukrainian children have been taken from Ukraine to Russia since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Lvova-Belova claimed that the vast majority of those children came to Russia accompanied by parents and relatives.

ICC issues arrest warrant for Putin over war crimes in Ukraine

Judges from the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued on Friday the court’s first #arrest #warrants related to the war in Ukraine, for Russian President #Vladimir #Putin and #Maria #Lvova-#Belova, Russia’s commissioner for children’s rights.

The two bear individual responsibility for the war crimes of “#unlawful }deportation” and “unlawful #transfer” of #children from occupied areas of Ukraine after Russia invaded the country last year, the judges alleged.
