Wind was ridiculous, gusts well over 30mph almost knocked me over twice, into traffic once, and I had to do most of it in a gear I usually ride up 5%+ grades with. But it was a bike ride, so all good.

In honour of #biketowhereverday I rode my bike to go to the wonderful spice shop that has all the good stuff. Of course, I also ride my bike there every other time I go, but that's not the point.

I’ve never heard of the event, so I searched and found that MNDOT has named the 7th of May as Bike to School day, and the only other event is BikeMN (advocacy group) is having a afterwork meet up on Friday th 16th. @jfparis A1. I'm home in Oakland CA. My normal ride is 2-3 miles to do school dropoff and to go to the office. But today, after a busy #BikeToWhereverDay I did a ride up and down the hill after school dropoff for about a 11 mile ride or so.

I was able to make it out to the @walkoakbikeoak Traffic Safety popup mid-morning. Car traffic was flowing fine with half the lanes (though it was post rush-hour). There's a pop-up mid-block crosswalk with extra visibility and a much shorter crossing distance to help keep kids who are going to school safe. I'll check it out tomorrow for #BikeToWhereverDay and see what it's like at a busier time of the day. https://youtu.be/gFbLNtcWSHM

Then I stopped by SF Bike's #BikeToWhereverDay station on the #GreatWalkway, and went into lizard mode on the beach for a bit. Great day!
