I remember playing oblivion as a child and marvelling at how people thought it was acceptable with how jank and stapled together it was. I knew so little about programming and I knew it was bad back then.

But it was one of the few titles carrying on the philosophy that old Western RPGs did in the 80's and 90's of being batshit insane and seemingly like half the game was designed by mute monks living in total isolation who learned to program by reading the comments of the previous game's code.
