Court papers say the trial starts Monday, 17 November before Chief Judge Cecilia Altonaga. The case centres on claims that Cooper spread fake clips and strong sexual rumours online. She first filed the suit last year, as covered in this Megan Thee Stallion court update.

Claims behind Megan’s civil case

Megan says Cooper joined with rapper Tory Lanez and his father Sonstar Peterson to push lies. They are accused of boosting fake stories, altered sexual clips and harsh attacks online. She says they tried to paint her as a liar and damage her name.

In January, a judge gave Megan a five year restraining order against Lanez. The order came after years of abuse claims linked to the 2020 shooting case. That order stops him or his team from speaking on her case online.

Tory Lanez’s role in the lawsuit

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, gave proof from prison earlier this year. Megan’s legal team say he dodged questions, mocked her lawyer and stalled the process. Reports say he even joked during the meeting, despite the serious claims.

They asked the judge to punish him for contempt, saying the meeting achieved nothing. The court later ordered Lanez to cover Megan’s legal costs from that day. Future talk must sit before a magistrate, as noted in this Tory Lanez case report.

Streamers and other witnesses to appear

The witness list also names streamer Adin Ross and DJ Akademiks (Livingston Allen) as key voices. Both men have discussed the shooting case online and are expected to give proof. Their past comments on streams may now be tested in front of the jury.

Several other figures, including Lanez’s father Sonstar and relative Travis Farris, will appear by video statements. Lanez has asked the court to limit his part in the trial. His lawyers say prison rules and other cases make wider work hard.

Megan is asking the court to rule that Cooper’s posts were defamation. She says the long campaign of lies left her scared and often unable to work. Her lawyers argue that strong legal steps are needed to calm things down online.

The case will also be watched by many stars who face harsh talk online. A clear ruling could shape how far bloggers and streamers can go with claims. For now, both sides are preparing to set out their story before the jury.
