Born in 1858 in Szczecin, Poland (then Germany) to a White German mother + a Black father, Olga Brown was an aerialist # muse to Edgar Degas featured in his painting
'Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando'. From the age of 9 she performed in many acts, most notably with Theophila Szterker (Kaira La Blanche) as Olga & Kaira, "Black & White Butterflies" (Les Deux Papillons). Olga quit performing after Kaira tragically fell to her death in 1888. Olga married American contortionist Emmanuel Woodman + the 2 had 3 daughters
