We went Nordic-skiing from low Névache (1500 m) to Col de l'Échelle (1780 m). This is an ancient road connecting France 🇫🇷 to Italy 🇮🇹. In the past it was an important trading path.

Pic 3 and 4 show la Chapelle de Bonne Rencontre (The Nice Encounter Chapel). Many migrants try to reach France from Bardonecchia in Italy by crossing these mountains. In winter they're often unprepared and underdressed. They are risking their lives in doing so. In order to help them local villagers leave warm clothes, heating patches and even something to eat inside the chapel.
