This ozone-killing chemical was not banned, and we underestimated it. A new study shows that dichloromethane, a widely used industrial solvent, can deplete the ozone layer faster than expected. This means the ozone layer's recovery could be delayed by several years unless dichloromethane emissions are reduced.
