Balls of cotton.Sheep on drugs. Floating in the sky above.Black hands picked them in the fields.White hands wove them in the mills.Balls of cotton.Sheep on drugs. Floating in the sky above.

A quick fire poem about the path to peace tapped out early one Friday morning. I hope you like it.

Bang at paper

not with gun

Bang at paper

fight for love

Stab at keyboard

not with knife

Stab at keyboard

force for life

wall is stronger than the spear

quill is lighter than the lance

pen ink rusts the sword dry

keyboard warriors type on and on

Any #EnglishPoetry enthusiasts familiar with Matthew Hollis' oeuvre, suggestions for next steps after "Earth House"? I'm not far in yet but I can already tell I will want more when this is done.

Hello World

We made it!

We are early birds alright.

We have one tongue; we have one coin

We are beginning to see the light.

*Fine thanks*

How are you?

I'm two kilos lighter because I can't eat
When I am stressed I can't exercise and I skipped
The gym for three weeks
Since I don't have time
To think but work
I'm tired, stayed awake
For four years
Fighting that part of me
Who feels useless
Tried to take control
Of my hand
Which holds a knife
Close to my throat
Wanting to set me free
From this world.

But thanks for asking.

New week, Old English!
Today our featured new book is "The Life Course in Old English #Poetry" by Harriet Soper, who examines the linear & unruly paths thru human, nonhuman & more-than-human lives in #OldEnglish poems

I wrote this poem in memory of a close friend.
Despite how painful it was apparently things always get better.
It's a reflection about death and what it leaves behind.
Please smile today, you may never know who might need it.

When a node in the throat,
The stomach close
Prevent you from breathing;
When every word seems inappropriate

And the silence is the only answer
To the question no one ever asked.
You thought you were ready,
But the world is falling down on you

As a wave destroy a sand castle,
As a sunbeam melt an ice cube.
You'd like to be somewhere else, but you are here.
Your mind is trying to escape,

But every thought brings you back to the reality.
A cruel reality.
You try shelter in the smile of an innocent kid.
You want to cry, but you can't.

Your legs shake as leaves.
The thought of the death is killing you from inside

Some moments are not meant to last, but their echoes stay forever—forever in the heart, in the room of silence, where only a heartbeat speaks

Our dreams like soapsuds
Beautiful, fragile, elusive, hopeful
When they break up dangerous as glass
Splinters enter your soul
Scars witness that you have grown up
Kids believe they can reach every goal
Adults bear the cost of the attempt
Dreamers: adults with bleeding wounds

"Here at least we shall be free; the Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy, will not drive us hence.
Here we may reign secure, and in my choice
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven."
- John Milton, "Paradise Lost"

A recently fallen Satan explores Hell. One of Gustave Doré's illustrations of John Milton's "Paradise Lost."

So I bought this book for 1 euro on a book market here in Germany. And now I opened the front page and guess where it was printed.
Moscow. It was printed in Moscow. It has translations and comments in Russian in the second half of the book. What are the chances 🤣

The soft touch of his hands
His sweet kisses
The feeling of safety in his arms

I went to bed under cold blankets
A dreamless sleep in my mind
But I wake up in a nightmare

Time is never enough
Your love won't save him
My tears won't bring him back

Why every time I think I'm happy
Someone else gets hurt?
Should I stop chasing happiness?
