Thomas Scott co-founded the Church Missionary Society. He says that love of the brethren, expressed in active kindness, is required as evidence of faith in Christ, and love to his name (Matthew 25:31-46).
I just finished a book where an otherwise orthodox woman, writing about abuse in the church, made a single reference to “missionaries” as historically those laying the ideological groundwork for slavery.
How can you sure love to Christ’s name?

!["They [Christians in Budapest] hold nine evangelistic meetings every week, and as many more for the Juniors. They visit the three great prisons of Budapest every week, to which they now have free access, they have a mission for blind soldiers as well as for blind children, have meetings for fallen women, and also for the thousands of people who live in box cars in the outskirts of the city, because there are no homes for them in the terribly congested metropolis which shelters hundreds of thousands of refugees."](https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/112/544/281/151/693/249/small/b6c9ed7b6339dfc1.png)
