Illustriert wurden die entsprechenden Pamphlete dann mit Bildern von Opiumrauchern, die der Leserschaft die Verdorbenheit der „chinesischen Rasse“ vor Augen führen sollte. Als nach 1870 auch weiße #Amerikaner die Sitte des Opiumrauchens übernahmen, sah man die Grundfesten des weißen #Amerikas bedroht.
