time to nerd out about #MusicTheory of some #anisong

the most memorable aspect of the #anime #BlackBullet is, in my opinion, the intensity of the emotion, particularly the anger and passion (in the sense of intensity, not romance, mind you) which characterizes the protagonists' resolve and reactions to the harsh world they face, along with a tinge of desperation. these aspects are so perfectly encapsulated in the series's OP, the #fripSide song also named "Black Bullet" -- in addition to its relentlessly-driving rhythm and its darker shades like borrowing the occasional flat 2nd scale degree from phrygian-mode and temporary modulation to the minor mediant (Gmin -> Bbmin) it also produces some very powerful feels with two of my favorite chord progressions (i VI VII III and i iv VII (III)).
