Exactly. That is the problem we have right now.
Using your bank would be a way forward, its not totally 'horizontal' like the #WebOfTrust, but it is a step away from CAs, uses our established trust we still have in banks to provide a *real* service, and most importantly returns us towards thinking more locally, and build #localConnections.
Bankers need real jobs aside from mining a #LayerTwo currency and maybe this is it.

A good documentary on the #consumer that and #EdwardBernays is The Century Of the Self (2002). It could be the last good thing the BBC produced.

In Australia, our #DickSmith say we need to #rethink #endlessGrowth in the #consumption of #resources and #energy - and we can't do that while increasing our #population.
The elite have been getting away with #cronyCapitalism, #workerExploitation and #environmentalAbuses for too many decades - #together we can turn things around :)
