#gobby

Dear Friends of the #Critical,

I
#wish I could use #Free #Software. I #try. #Constantly. For example here is the NOT NEW #difficulties I am having to create a #podcast. Below link on rent an #English #gobby #ranting #lobster. AND I have been using #Audacity for a long time on #Puppy #Linux previously, Where the volume was always too low. Puppy eventually created its own #audio #recorder. That is another story.

How
#blind people or those with even less #neurons manage to use Audacity successfully is a #tribute to their #persistence and probably wallets to get new #hardware and pay their local #GNU heroes [I have a long term plan for that] :firefish_love_happy:

Now what are the
#developers [Bless them] doing #wrong? #Nothing. This is the nature of #free, #proprietary and #combination systems across many #formats including phone/computers. Everything would be perfect if not for end users. :anarchy: Unfortunately they are the point of uses, the #ergonomic test bed.

Will I be filling out a form? A long term test dialogue? Nope. Done that. Been there. Have the T-shirt.
That is a kindness for the new generation to engage in
❤️

"The speaker is
#frustrated with the recent #upgrade of Audacity 3.4.1 software. They are unable to find #basic #functions and their #headphones #support has #disappeared. They suggest finding #workarounds, such as using other programs for playback. They criticize how free software often becomes #unworkable due to added features, similar to non-free software."

@olasd back in the old days when desktop apps were a thing and #etherpad wasn't, we were using #gobby to do this kind of stuff. it was a bit unstable and you had to (*gasp*!) install a program to run it, but it wrote its own status files (and plain text copies) to two directories periodically on the server side. i would just schedule git commits and push on top of this and voila... i wish gobby would have won that race...

@rpodcast @agates any experience with #gobby for live document collaboration? Wondering how it compares to #onlyoffice and #collabora

There's even a plugin that acknowledges that writing plugins or clients is tedious if your needs are simple by providing a unix domain socket based API … but it's read-only :(
