There are no stories that need to be told to close out #GravityFalls, but there are so many stories that could be told. They balanced that better than really any other series finale that comes to mind.

I need to pick up some of the comics.

#GravityFalls theory I have no evidence for but I think would be funny:

Shermy figured out Stanley's stunt replacing Stanford, and probably assumes Stanford got obsessive about some project and dropped off the grid, and Stanley took over the shack under Stanfords ID, Shermy thinks this was because a random stupid death would be more plausible for Stanley than for Stanford.

Shermy has not told Stan that he's figured this out. He hasn't told anyone. He pretends to believe Stans lie about getting the extra fingers amputated, and always talks about his too nerdy brother who went nuts. Stan, being a bit of an idiot, believes Shermy is being sincere when he says this.

He then suggests Stan watches the kids, knowing something would go absolutely nuts that summer and wanting to watch the chaos, angry at his brothers for never really having time for him due to their feud.
