MGSD Gundam Aerial

Finally figured something out for pictures, just in time to finish another Aerial.

This kit is super fun. The strange proportions highlight a lot of what I like about the original design, and the eyes are absolutely wild. The permet could stand out more, but I appreciate that I can swap between red and blue.

I finished painting the expansion parts I wanted to except the open hands, so it was time for that photoshoot.

I love this kit. I'll do a full photoshoot when I finish painting some bits from the Demi Trainer Expansion Parts set, but the little drone backpack is definitely a highlight. It even doubles as shoulder cannons, which are always nice.

I actually used every sticker, so the only paint is the panel lining and some silver behind the mono-eye.

I wanted to do one last "HG Grimgerde for scale" before I took it home, so here's #HighGrade #Gundam Aerial with HG Grimgerde for scale. Aerial is actually a bit taller to the top of the head, but shorter when comparing bunny ears.

HG Gundam Aerial and Mirasoul

While I waited on the results from my previous poll, I built the HG Gundam Aerial to go with my previously built HG Mirasoul. This was a very satisfying build, and a result I'm very happy with. No varnish was used on Aerial, but I had to topcoat the Mirasoul due to all the curved surface stickers.

I think this one will replace HG Grimgerde as my live-at-work kit.

I got the decals on the #HighGrade Zowort and Tickbalang. Very happy with how Zowort turned out. A little less happy with Tickbalang, but that's mostly due to not knowing how to use Vallejo decal fix and softener well yet (I went back to the Testors decal fix for Zowort).

Kind of a WIP: the #HighGrade Zowort. I say "in progress" because I have some decals I want to put on it and the Tickbalang I've built for it.

I am a *huge* fan of this design. I should be complaining about single jointed elbows and knees, but it just looks so good. And this thing has some of the best torso articulation I have ever seen.

I don't understand the way Gundam fans talk about "canon." I saw someone say once that you shouldn't watch the original Zeta anime, or ZZ or CCA, because the New Translation movies "decanonized" them...

And then there were people claiming Bandai "decanonized" Sulemio. They get engaged in episode 1 and are married in the finale! It doesn't matter what Bandai says, that doesn't alter what's in the show. And the endless arguing over whether Origin is a different "timeline" or not is so annoying, too.

When I was in middle school I wasn't really into fandoms, but I was fascinated by Roman mythology. There's a million different versions of those stories. No one ever tries to sort those into "timelines." Imagine if someone said, "Virgil wanted the Aeneid burned on his deathbed so it's not canon and you should skip it." That's what all this nonsense sounds like to me...

When a series goes on as long as Gundam has, people will re-interpret it in different ways. It's like a fairy tale. It's all imaginary so there is no one "true" version. I think some people forget how to play pretend properly when they grow up. They treat fiction like history (or theology?) instead of art.

Witch from Mercury... I love Suletta and Aerial. I love the music too. But the plot is too convoluted and I hate all the other characters. They're all assholes.

I support Sulemio but I don't really ship it. Does that make sense? I like yuri and I like to see Suletta being happy but IDGAF about Miorine.

I've now built the Lfrith Thorn from The Witch from Mercury! Not much to say about this kit that I haven't already said about the Lfirth Ur, but I'm glad those two girls are now together. Ex Terra via duo puellae ad Stellae. Bellum machina ex puellae vitae tulit. Agnus Dei ora pro nobis in bella mundi et duo puellae ampletaris.
