The Greenock and Kelly Cuts are isoline hugging acquaducts dug in the Clyde Murshiel hills, that enabled access to clean drinking water for cholera strikken towns, and enabled low cost energy for people starting their own mills. The visitor centre is an underappreciated gem, as are the silent remains of the engineering and hard but smart work that went into the construction and maintenance. https://clydemuirshiel.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/GC-walk.pdf The area's peat bogs are being restored now to serve as effective zero energy carbon sinks. The park is close to Glasgow, yet offers strikingly diverse nature and sights #clydemurshiel #nature #rewilding #hydroengineering #hiking #peatbog The engineering is quite superb, with a reversible sand filter dating from the 1800s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Thom_(engineer)
