@unordinarytales Like recommendations for what? There are a ton of published Fate Worlds. Dresden Files Accelerated is awesome (I like it better than the first edition of DF), and Tachyon Squadron is a great science fiction game. Finally, #iHunt is the best take on monster hunters.

In Session 3 of our mystery, "The Headless Biker of US 24" the Hunters attended the funeral of a ghost biker's latest victim, talked to an elderly former member of the ghost's biker gang, convinced the Sheriff that they're FBI, and flirted with the funeral director.

To summarize my #ttrpg evolution those last years, let's say I've been looking more and more at narrative rules, wanting more drama and less monsters and treasures. (Or less hacking and gunfights)

The problem being I'm still shy about opening my inner high school girl to my usual very white-cis-het-male groups, so I'm still waiting for a new and trusted group to try things like #iHunt ou #ThirstySwordLesbians.
(Ideally a group where I wouldn't be the forever GM, as urban fantasy is not my forte and I'm not sure I even understand fully the Thirsty Sword Lesbian rules)
(OK, I'm not looking that hard, parental duties and other priorities, hopefully that will change when the offspring leave the nest)

And I'm still toying with the idea of a custom ruleset stealing ideas from #iHunt and #PBTA to try to make a "low-tech / high-drama" cyberpunk / hopepunk game with a solo or collab option, but I don't feel like I've played enough of #Fate or PBTA right now to really grasp all the nuances of those rules so that's still up in the air.

@glitchontwitch @rivetgeek But I keep coming back to #Fate BECAUSE it's free-wheeling and can go theoretically anywhere.

FWIW, my #iHunt group consists of a somewhat obscure celebrity daughter, a Salvadorean sicario, a bartender and former political operative, a U-of-C student involved in some questionable studies, and an IT guy who doesn't have a board full of pictures and yarn only because he doesn't want to leave evidence of his plans.

@glitchontwitch @rivetgeek #iHunt stretches the #FateRPG paradigm by introducing four "classes" of stunt (called "kinks"). "Phooeys" (tech-heads) are one of those classes. The other three are "Knights" (fighters), "Evileenas" (magic-dabblers), and "The 66" (influencers). More may be house-ruled, but those four feature most prominently in the book.

You'll find the biggest difference between #MotW and #iHunt is that the latter has a powerful "capitalism is the monster we should be fighting" vibe.

Last night I was SUPPOSED to run #iHunt, but between family stress and work stress, they kind of encouraged me to let it sit a week. Still not sure now that I agree with the decision, but perhaps it’s a good thing that my players are concerned about me, even if it means we don’t play what we planned.

(We still played. It was Gartic Phone as a Discord activity.)

I played only a few games other than my own. The far-and-away standout was @widdledragon 's #TheOldTheColdTheBold. It's a very fun game where you play criminals on $ieben, a crime gig app.

In our game, a painter had learned that the reason his work commanded such high prices was money laundering, so he went on the app to hire us to burn the gallery down with his paintings — their money — inside. 🤘
