Oh decisions decisions.

I have two phones because I absolutely am not giving my enployer(s) permission to install or rely on anything on my own personal phone.

So now I’ve gotten requests to respond to an election exit poll questionnaire on both numbers.

What to do??

#irelandvotes civic duty done. 15 minutes out of my day, hell out of my *year* . I don't understand why someone wouldn't vote.

This competition is invalid because someone dropped out, but mostly because I didn't qualify

What was your favourite Jim Gavin gaffe?

So:

✅ Fianna Fáil lose their deposit
✅ Jim Gavin barely lasted A WEEK
✅ He's still on the ballot paper, notwithstanding this announcement
🤔 Why announce late on a Sunday night?
🤔 WHAT is going to be published tomorrow..!?
🤔 What was Micheál Martin thinking??
🤔 Billy Kelleher must be RAGIN

@DaObjector @Koochulainn Some Irish political hashtags are #irpol, and recently #GE2024 #GE24, #IrelandVotes. Search for posts with those and follow people who use them should help your timeline feel a little less lonely.

A caution for anyone in Ireland with a Seanad vote who has moved house - I updated my address on the normal election register and my polling card for the General Election went there but the Seanad address list must be separate as my ballot paper arrived at the parental home. Thankfully am there to pick up, deadline is 29th Jan.

And with that, all 174 seats in the Dáil have been filled.

Now the coalition talks can begin. It took months to form a government after the 2020 election. Will it take as long this time?

We're still waiting on the final count in Cavan-Monaghan, and the final count of the general election.

Sarah O'Reilly is going to need 80% of Cathy Bennett's surplus in order to get elected. From what I've seen in other constituencies when the last Sinn Féin candidate has been excluded, in particular the number of non-transferrable votes that follow this, I simply don't think that's going to happen.

Even though Cavan-Monaghan is still counting, I think I've seen enough to rule out Aontú winning the fifth seat in that constituency. That one will be as-you-were.

And with that, this is what the final seat count in the Dáil will look like when that constituency has finished.

The count has now completed in TIpperary North.

That recount always seemed unnecessary, as it was clear at the end of count 9 that both candidates would be excluded in one order or the other. And that's what happened.
