The image depicts a young girl pouring something from her hand into the mouth of a calf in what appears to be an old barn. She is wearing a white blouse, dark pants with rolled-up sleeves, and shoes. The calf has a harness on its head, suggesting it may have been used for work or transportation purposes before being cared for by this young girl. The setting suggests rural life, possibly within a farming community where such activities are part of daily routines.

The black-and-white nature of the photo indicates that it could be from an earlier time period when color photography was not as prevalent. This particular image is associated with Dorothea Lange's work in Oregon, specifically Jackson County near Medford. She was known for her documentation and portrayal of rural life during the early to mid-20th century.

The girl seems focused on caring for the calf, a sign of responsibility typically attributed to members of agricultural communities or those participating in youth organizations like 4-H Clubs that emphasize farming skills development among young people. The image captures an intimate moment between human and animal, highlighting themes of care, stewardship, and rural life during Lange's era.

The text "3-opdO5" appears at the top right corner of the photo with a reversed or mirrored font style, which could be indicative of some form of watermarking or stylisti [...]

In a black and white photograph, an individual is kneeling on the ground in what appears to be a barn or stable. The person has their right hand gently placed around the head of a calf wearing a halter, while looking at it with affectionate attention. A second cow stands behind them, partially obscured by the first one. They are both surrounded by straw and various farm equipment including wooden benches, a wheelbarrow, and other items that suggest agricultural work.

The setting is rustic, highlighted by worn wooden walls of what seems to be an old barn or storage shed with metal fixtures visible on some areas of it. There's natural light coming from outside the frame, illuminating part of the scene while casting shadows in others.

Above them, there’s a sign that reads “J-EpOoX” and below that "4-H." The photograph evokes themes related to rural life, farm work, youth engagement with agriculture (as suggested by the presence of 4H), domesticated animals, and possibly educational or community-oriented activities.

Today, crews completed dozer line on the south end of the fire and continued to build direct lines elsewhere around the fire’s perimeter. Crews continued mop-up operations along the north end of the fire. The fire remains estimated at 250 acres. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management are maintaining evacuation notices for Zones JAC-536, JAC-542, JAC-543, JAC-546, JAC-558 and JAC-559 under a Level 2 – Be Set. More information on current evacuations can be found at: protect.genasys.com/. One lane of I-5 is closed between mile markers 8.5 and 10.5 on southbound lanes only. Check tripcheck.com for up-to-date traffic information.

At this time, more than 1,300 personnel are assigned to the fires, with many more on the way. These additional crews and resources continue to arrive to provide relief to existing local district personnel, allowing them to continue work on other fires within the district and be ready to respond to potential new fire starts.

Significant progress was made on numerous fires managed by both district personnel and ODF Team 3 with continued aggressive, direct suppression efforts. “Increased temperatures, windy conditions and rugged terrain challenged crews today, but it was a successful day of safe firefighting,” said ODF Team 3 Incident Commander Tyler McCarty.

Firefighters have been building and holding lines around the fire despite hot, windy conditions. With the help of additional retardant drops today, firefighters have been able to solidify line around 50% of the fire’s perimeter. Tonight, firefighters will continue to work on holding and improving existing lines and building onto them with a goal of completing as much of the perimeter as possible.

One lane of I-5 is closed between mile markers 8.5 and 10.5 on both the southbound and northbound sides. Check tripcheck.com for traffic information.

The Neil Creek Fire south of Ashland remains NOT a threat to the City of Ashland. Area winds are continuing to blow southward away from Ashland at this time. Fire resources from ODF are continuing to reinforce control lines and the hope is to stop the fire completely before the higher temperatures arrive in our area beginning this weekend. Due to the wind direction, blowing southward away from Ashland, and no forecasted wind shifts, this fire presents no immediate threat to the City of Ashland.

Per Jackson County Emergency Management: zones JAC-542, JAC-536 and JAC-558, JAC-543, JAC-546, and JAC-549 remain at a Level 2 Be Set evacuation level.

Because of the Level 2 Be Set! in zone JAC-536, anyone using the trails in the Ashland Watershed south of Ashland should be made aware of the Level 2 Be Set evacuation notice and the fire. Updates for local Ashland information can be accessed via the radio station AM1700 and the Ashland Wildfire Hotline 541-552-2490.
