It'll merely force them to enable aftermarket support woth an unbloated experience.

• It won't prevent manufacturers from offering and implementing unique features in terms of hardware and software.

It'll just make them responsible to not release products like #Unihertz, #WiKo, #SOYES and many others which refuse to deliver any post-launch #updates and thus sell manufactured #eWaste.

• Or has anyone seen Updates being released for the #UnihertzJelly series (including #JellyStar, #Jelly2E and #JellyMax)?

#AOSP support and #reproduceableBuilds would at least allow #Aftermarket-#ROMs like @LineageOS to support them when the manufacturer decides not to.

• Whether that happens is a different story, but at least #consumers wouldn't be at the mercy of a #vendor when it comes to #security!

Unihertz Jelly Star not showing contacts in calls (incoming calls, and history), but only number.

Google Contacts is also empty (and says, that sync of 331 contacts was successful).

Does someone have a solution?

Didn't happen on any else smartphone I owned, but on Jelly Star it happens regularly. Sometimes a restart helps, but not always.

Pretty annoying,... when I greet people I know as if it was a call (potentially random) from someone unknown.

catalyst for this being, I have been experimenting with dumb(ed down) phones. I pre-ordered a #LightPhone III. I have been putzing around with a #Nokia2780 and #JellyStar, neither of which I can really figure out how (I want) to integrate into my life - especially considering how heavily I use iMessage from the desktop to keep in touch with friends/family.
