Budapest, 1958. A distinctly local, Aotearoa flavour in today's photo from the Fortepan archives. A Māori trio performing in the 8th District of Budapest, very much a working class part of the capital. And so soon after the revolution. I would love to know who these musicians might be. I have searched Papers Past, but sadly there's no clue as to their identity.

#Budapest Cukrászda had been operating, under different names, since 1957. Its neon sign dated back to the communist era. It was being run by the third generation of the same family, the Szabós — which took over in the early 80s from an unrelated cukrász... also called Szabó.
