an #Elgato #StreamDeck XL, which will play back key commands and macros (once I program it!)

My primary purpose is to automate common tasks in #DolbyAtmos production, but it will be useful for pretty much anything I’d like to do at the touch of a button.

I love that you can customize the images and animations the buttons display
I immediately made a few screen savers.

This one is a photo of a beautiful #mbira I bought years ago from a #Zimbabwean musician.

A Stream Deck XL has an 8 x 4 matrix of 32 buttons, each displaying its own LCD image.

It has a screen saver mode, and I have it displaying a photo of my mbira.

A documentary examining the roots of music in Malawi and challenging Malawian musicians to discover a music of their own, takes you into the heart of a cultural revolution, where vibrant ancient traditions are inspiring hip-hop artists and chart topping bands.

Pour conclure, une petite phrase extraite du film : “In Malawi, Music is the Message”

 croyez-moi

Next request, fedi!

I’d like to buy a or as a gift. Would prefer to buy from an indie maker, and Etsy just seems like a swamp of OEM crap it’s hard to sift through these days.

Anyone have a recommendation? £30–£60? (Is that a fair price?)

Ephat Mujuru & the Spirit of the People

amf.didiermary.fr/ephat-mujuru

In 1972, Ephat Mujuru formed his first group, naming it for one of the most beloved Shona ancestors, Chaminuka. In the midst of the liberation struggle, mbira music became political. Singer and bandleader Thomas Mapfumo began interpreting mbira songs with an electric dance band, creating chimurenga (loosely “struggle”) music, named for the independence fighters. [...]

The #Mbira Dzavadzimu (mbira of the ancestors) is a large lamellophone from #Zimbabwe, likely going back around 1300 years. It produces a complex harmonic and polyphonic #music; originally 2 mbiras plus hosho (gourd rattle) would play a continuous yet shifting cycle during the bira ceremony.
This is Erica Azim playing a #Shona #song called Shumba. Also note the yodelling, which is a typical part of the vocal style.
