That's the fiddle yard laid and glued down. Join me* on some unspecified future date for a demonstration of upwards soldering as I tie 30+ dropper wires into the main bus without dripping solder in my eye.

*it would be lovely to meet you in person, but if you think I'm going to broadcast this like some sort of "influencer", think again.

Is model railway viewed from above, oblique angle like Mosquito or Mitchell on a low level bomb run. View is of throat of six road yard with lots of points glinting in the (gasp) sunlight.

#hobbyStreak 111 Today was a travel day, but I managed to get a few more brake details in. #modelRailway #modelRailroad

A while back, I drove over to Melbourne for the FreeMOO9 meetup/convetion.

Will James put together a summary FreeMOO9 and the Feburary 2026 event.

So repaired model is great. Apart from something has gone missing and isn’t in the box now… #ModelRailway

I doubt many other railways have to deal with a cat digging up the ballast and leaving a big stone on the line. youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ59rBwutXk

#hobbyStreak 109 Plumbed in the brake cylinder. Someone needs to draw an inertial air filter! #modelRailway #modelRailroad

Screenshot of 3D model focused on the triple valve and its connection to the train line. Adding elbows and T junctions to pipes is easy at this stage!

#hobbyStreak 108 Positioning the brake cylinder assembly required a redesign of the queen posts #modelRailway #modelRailroad

The brake cylinder hangs below the side beam, and so the queen posts had to get slender.

Time to get the fiddly canopies into the station buildings. And they are fiddly. Lot of measuring.

#ModelRailway #Metcalfe #StationCanopy #OOScale #Progress

Four canopy sections go in front of the booking hall. The rightmost and second from the left both have a lamp underneath. Masking tape actors the front keeps everything together at this point.A side view of the partly assembled canopies in place on the platform. In this different angle you can clearly see the masking tape holding everything in place.

This lunchtime I’ve spent some time working on incorporating hanging lights into the Metcalfe platform canopies. It’s going quite well so far. Taken my time to work out exactly how to get the lamps where I want.

A close-up of three black clamps holding a canopy support while the glue holding the layers together sets. Behind it are assorted parts for the canopy framework. Two canopy supports lay on a sheet of cork. Both supports have the wires of a lamp running from the bottom through the middle, the wire bends to the right at the top, ready to be fixed to the crossmember when that is added.

The wire will go through a small hole in the platform and from there to a 12V supply via a resistor.

#hobbyStreak 107 not much time today. Just tweaked the ladder and grab ends slightly #modelRailway #modelRailroad

Screenshot showing the end of the body of the coal car. The grab ends are slightly larger and the ones for the ladder are now above the grabs rather than beside.

Platform 1 and the associated buildings contribute to make slow but steady progress…

#ModelRailway #Metcalfe #OOScale #Progress

A detailed model of a stone booking hall is displayed on a cork surface. The structure resembles a historical or institutional design, featuring windows and a clock. Background elements and tools for model creation are visible, suggesting an ongoing project.A model railway scene featuring a detailed stone booking hall and parcel office with red doors and several freight cars on the tracks. The backdrop includes a blue sky and clouds, creating a realistic environment for the miniature train setup.A model train layout featuring several train cars in a station setting. The station platform has three old fashioned had lamps on it and steps down into a subway under the track. The scene is detailed with a realistic appearance of tracks and textures.
