#modelrockets So i've been tasked to learn about avionics and electronics for model rockets. Does anyone have any advice on where I could go If I can code but know nothing else? #askspace #askfedi

It's time to build another model rocket! Ken looks at his next build, 1977's Space Shuttle Flying Model Rocket by Estes #ModelRockets #Geek Archeology

Continuing work on the Enterprise. Took the advice of a friend and bought some Microscale Industries “Liquid Decal Film”. It’s designed to help very old decals maintain their cohesion when you put them in water.
The Tamiya Color Clear Acrylic spray helped somewhat, but I still had issues with disintegration. We’ll see how this does; I’m hopeful. #StarTrek #ModelRockets
Slow progress on the Enterprise as I add the 50-year-old decals.
As I mentioned before, these decals tend to disintegrate on contact with water (and you need water to apply them) so … I’m going slowly. Very slowly. #ModelRockets
Progress on the Enterprise! I'm almost done with painting the fine details. I've got a few small tiles to paint and glue to the ship (little nervous about those) and then the main event:
Attempting to apply 50-year-old water-based decals to the ship. #StarTrek #ModelRockets
That moment when you're building a model rocket, and you realize, umm, you've got extra pieces... #Rocketry #ModelRockets #Enterprise
Slow-but-steady progress on my Enterprise model rocket. I didn't like the original base coat (too dark and too gray) so I bought a can of Testor's Light Aircraft Gray paint.
I'm liking it. #ModelRockets #Rocketry #StarTrek

As I was working on the Enterprise last night, I realized I had primed it, but hadn't put on the "spaceship gray" base coat. Today, I ran out & grabbed paint from my local hardware store to fix that.
The ship's being supported by a newspaper-wrapped wooden dowel, held in place by the Star Trek Adventures rulebook #StarTrek #ModelRockets
N3VEM is an amateur radio enthusiast and model rocket builder making videos about both these hobbies:
They have already uploaded over 30 videos, if these haven't federated to your server yet you can browse them all at https://makertube.net/a/n3vem/videos

I would have enjoyed a more silent sunday but I had a pretty good #NoisySunday launching #modelrockets with the ARC team I coach. They did pretty well this year. Probably not well enough to get to nationals but I'm proud of their progress since last year.
FM2024 is near! I can’t wait!

My favorite store near me is that me of the few remaining privately run Radio Shack stores - if you’re within striking distance of Ephrata PA you really should check it out - they carry all the normal stuff you’d expect, #HamRadio gear (radios and accessories) and now they carry #ModelRockets and motors too!
I mean come on - if you know me, you know a store that carries both Ham Radio and Rocketry stuff, and lets me shop local, is going to basically have a direct tap to my bank account😀
Anyone remember the rocket in Super Mario Bros 2?
Decided to design and print it. 3" diameter and barely fits a 24x95mm motor. Rear-eject.
I just got in the custom front panel for the model rocket launch controller that I designed from INUX3D who did the UV printing and CNC routing of the panel. I have the components installed and will finish up the wiring this week. This was a fun project to design with my son and then build.
Doing a round of, "Which is Better" to get eyes on this other than my own. The area of interest is the lower "Caution" area that has the Arm button and the Launch button for model rockets. Let me know which one you prefer and why.
Who's flying at LDRS? I'll be there, since it's our local field. #LDRS #rocketry #highpowerrocketry #modelrockets
I spent the last two days helping my kid build #ModelRockets
We're going out to the Lucerne Dry Lake Bed in a few days to launch these (and many more).
Not every flight goes to plan, and today that's how it went. 7.5 out of 9 were successful. The half a point was for a cluster rocket that didn't fully light off the rail (3 out of 4), but was still recovered.
Three pics. The smashed one is the newest version of a BT60 Goblin. Again the chute release pin didn't let go despite several successful tests with the small chute bundle. It made it to 2878' on an Aerotech F67C motor.
The black sleek one is an upscale Estes Ninja, 2.5" diameter. Flew on an Aerotech F40W. Perfect flight to 1500'.
The skyracha rocket, a 4" upscale Big Daddy, flew great on a H130W to 1354'
