<p>MANILA, Philippines – Documentary film <em><a href="https://www.rappler.com/entertainment/movies/interview-jl-burgos-documentary-missing-activist-jonas-alipato-at-muog/">Alipato at Muog</a></em> won <strong>Best Picture</strong> at the 2025 Gawad Urian Awards, the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino announced on Saturday, October 11, during the awarding ceremony at De La Salle University in Manila.</p>

<p>The full-length documentary — which tells the story of activist <a href="https://www.rappler.com/newsbreak/in-depth/25355-jonas-burgos-trapped-in-a-web-of-lives/">Jonas Burgos</a>, who was abducted by <a href="https://www.rappler.com/newsbreak/4466-why-would-the-army-abduct-jonas-burgos/">suspected military personnel</a> in 2007 and <a href="https://www.rappler.com/philippines/229128-closure-after-truth-revealed-jonas-burgos-abduction/">remains missing</a> — also bagged <strong>Best Documentary</strong> and <strong>Best Editing</strong>.</p>

<p>JL Burgos, Jonas’ younger brother who directed and edited the film, told Rappler in a previous interview that he long wanted to tell the story but had held it off in hopes of “a happy ending.”</p>

<p>He received the Urian top prize on stage together with his mother, Edith Burgos, and the crew from what’s reputedly the most prestigious and credible local movie award-giving body.</p>
