If you don't listen to game, tv or film soundtracks you're missing out. Paul Ruskay's work in seminal 1999 real-time strategy Homeworld is some of the most atmospheric and flavourful audio ever made. Out of an exceptional list of ambient moods Turanic Raiders is my tip-top darling. There's nothing else quite like it. A bit techno, a bit tribal, always evocative; the rhythm drums into your head and stays there.

Do Americans listen to Techno?

You know you get those mental blind spots, like suddenly a word you use all the time sounds really unfamiliar, or you have to ask something really obvious...? Yeah, I can't recall a single American talking about Techno. US music tastes seem to focus heavily on guitars? Techno feels like more of a European thing?

I feel like I'm talking absolute bollocks. Please correct me if so.

Reason I'm thinking this: am listening to this particular 'choon' while I batter away online at stuff and things. It's got a good beat:

Whilst perusing some music (#musoc) to make myself feel better I tripped across some ancient MP3s from a game I'd forgotten. The music is tremendous, but is now unknown, even to the Internet.
