I hate when people post political stuff on Fedi, because it makes me mentally unstable. #GreatAlbums1990s - #UncleTupelo – #NoDepression (1990). A bastardized brew of Guthrie, Fogerty, and the Ramones, this Illinois trio helped launch the alt-country movement on its rowdy debut. Jay Farrar sounds like he’s gargling marbles drenched in whisky, as bassist Jeff Tweedy thumps along waiting for the next round. The title track, a Carter Family nugget, shows UT’s roots spreading deeper than affectation – a sign of things to come.
