Si le chien est le meilleur ami de l’homme, c’est avant tout parce qu’il ne juge pas. LSD s’intéresse au rôle que joue le chien dans son rapport aux personnes marginalisées et/ou en souffrance.
Que l’on soit à la rue, repris de justice, travailleuse du sexe, personnes transgenres, valides ou non valides, hétéro ou non… peu importe notre classe, notre âge, notre apparence ou l’état de notre santé mentale, nos chiens nous aiment de façon inconditionnelle. Ils n’ont que faire du regard social. Il n’est donc pas étonnant que chiens cabossés et humains cabossés fassent route commune.

L’anthropologue et maitre-chien, Christophe Blanchard, explique ainsi le rôle des chiens dont les propriétaires vivent dans la rue : “Ils ont à la fois une vocation fonctionnelle d'accompagnement dans un quotidien fait de galère, et c'est aussi un élément structurant pour le groupe des personnes à la rue. Parce que, à travers les chiens, les personnes à la rue créent et tissent des alliances entre elles par chiens interposés. Et ça, c'est extrêmement important d'un point de vue anthropologique. Et souvent, c'est méconnu par les travailleurs sociaux eux-mêmes."
