The wrap-up panel from was fantastic overall and definitely worth a watch.

This bit from Nils is worth repeating (although this post violates the idea itself) about "PHP isn't dead." (starts around 13:30)

youtube.com/watch?v=dilJ3T4TXxA

A screenshot of text:

PHP isn’t ‘dead’ and my main problem even talking about it framed in that way is that by repeating this nonsense, we make it more true. I think I have a personal problem every time I see somebody who wants to write a blog post– about how cool PHP 8 is, about how these amazing new features exist, how I accomplished this great project with PHP– and the headline is “PHP is not dead.”

The only thing you transport as a message to anyone who isn’t part of the PHP community are the two words “PHP” and “dead.” That’s what’s stuck in their head after reading your blog post about great PHP is. So stop doing that. You want to transport a positive message, you want to encourage young people to get into the language? You talk about successes, you talk about positive things, you show them what’s possible.

Like, sure maybe you’re concerned about these things and it might make sense for us to discuss how the community is changing over the years, but I think if the outward message that we’re transporting as a PHP community is mostly a “no we’re not as bad as you think,” the only thing the other side sees is “oh, they’re bad,” that’s how messaging works.

@dunglas Hey. Really enjoyed your talk at #phpuk25 yesterday about FrankenPHP. In our stack we currently use PHP-FPM alongside Nginx and Openresty. We do a bunch of things with Lua scripts (including our SSL verification/installation which I assume Caddy would now entirely manage), so just wondering what the equivalent would be with FrankenPHP?

At #phpuk25 @naderman is making an excellent point that people that write articles and posts about cool new #PHP features and projects shouldn't be using headlines like "PHP is not dead", because most people will just remember "PHP" and "Dead".

Put the cool new exciting things in your titles!

Advice from @lornajane on how to best use OpenAPI to generate SDKs: "always add your own wrapper layer, you'll thank me later" #phpuk25

I had a very interesting, eye-opening conversation with @lornajane this morning about OpenAPI workflows ("Arazzo") and Overlays, so looking forward to learning more in her talk #phpuk25

Interested to hear about Dagger at #phpuk25 but must admit I don’t personally see the appeal of my pipeline being written _in_ PHP. Also not sure I want to help manage a pipeline where every team has written their part in their own language. Feels like that would age badly.
