Because I just see a #pilot in my timeline, I just remember I have question to people actually flying a real Cessna 172SP or similar.

I am only "flying" in #xplane, but I have noticed and already found blogposts referring to the following behavior:

When I turn on the autopilot with HDG, VS and a certain climb rate it sometimes happens, because I set the throttle too low, that after a while the autopilot finds it impossible to satisfy the desired climb rate. Immediately afterward the plane is very difficult to control.

After having read about this and experienced this a couple of times in simulation, it came to me, that it is likely that this is because the autopilot steers with the pitch trim and leaves the trim set with nose very high.

Indeed, now when the autopilot turns off, I immediately jump and set the trim wheel to middle position again. So far this fixed my problems every time.

Now the question: Does the autopilot in a real Cessna 172SP have this same behavior? That it leaves the trim wheel far away from the middle position?

Saturday was a post-frontal weather day - very windy with active turbulence Sigmets. Fortunately, only areas west of Sacramento had high winds at the surface, while most other area airports had only moderate winds. Up above I saw 30mph winds, moderate turbulence and mountain wave with 1000fpm ups and downs downwind of ridges.
