Mirage’s story about the decoy kids seems pretty difficult to believe, and the Power parents are skeptical. But Gosamyr also has magical powers of persuasion, and she goes the extra step to convince the parents that their real kids don’t have powers. #marvel #powerpack
The New Mutants are here to fix things, but it takes a wall of text: Basically, they tell the parents that they were keeping the kids safe, and the superpowered versions were just decoys. And then Mirage generates illusory non-powered kids to complete the lie. #marvel #powerpack
The kids arrive at home, and things are pretty dismal: Mom is singing Brahms’ Lullaby (that’s very specific!) to what looks like a doll?? And Dad is in his own world, reciting a litany about how they’re unfit to be parents and their kids don’t have a childhood. #marvel #powerpack
This demonic bus is pretty clever: It even has a sign that says “Bleaker” St., with the quotation marks and everything. Even monstrous animated vehicles can telegraph a pun! But funny or not, Alex quickly disintegrates it. #marvel #powerpack
The Power Pack kids discover that some of the demonic vehicles are frozen in place. But when Alex tries to disintegrate a bus filled with people, it springs to life! #marvel #powerpack
The kids also aren’t doing anything to help their parents get through this difficult time: James Power is trying to console his wife, and the kids are going, “…Right now our powers can help save a lot of people!” The guilt really helps! #marvel #powerpack
This Power Pack story gets pretty dysfunctional pretty quickly: Their parents feel unqualified to tell superheroes what to do, and they feel betrayed that the kids kept their powers secret for so long…so they’re just going to repress everything instead. #marvel #powerpack
