Five-year-old Katie Power should not have the Punisher’s phone number. #marvel #powerpack

A cover you'd never see today.

Marvel will never admit that 5-year-old Katie Power would have likely stripped Logan's flesh from his bones.

Well. That's my head canon at least!

Cover to X-Men 195 with Wolverine holding up Energizer of Power Pack, his claws drawn, almost as if he's going to stab her.

Louise Simonson and June Brigman's original "Power Pack" was fantastic.

Brigman truly has a way of drawing actual children few other comic artists could can pull-off!

And I loved the alien-sorta-horshish Kymellians!

This storyline about Julie growing up was not worth a thirty-page issue. I may be done with Power Pack if these stories don’t pick up soon. #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-16

This issue combines the excitement of a girl graduating from elementary school with the thrills of girls playing badminton and the slam-bang action of babysitting a one-year-old. And if that’s not enough, there’s also an 11th birthday party! #marvel #powerpack

Ugh, and the appearance of the Boogy Man in this issue is just in a dream sequence. What a cheap ploy to make it seem like there’s a lot of action, when there’s really...not. #marvel #powerpack

And here’s where they turn everything into a happy ending: The Power Pack kids take the place of the illusions. And when everyone wakes up, it will be like the superhero versions never existed. After an interesting turn, everything is going back to normal. #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-01

I would almost support this darkly tragic ending—almost—but they’re about to reverse it completely. But for now, let’s wallow in those Power Pack kids who are SO SAD and their tear-streaked faces, thinking they’re never going to see their parents again. #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-01

Mirage’s story about the decoy kids seems pretty difficult to believe, and the Power parents are skeptical. But Gosamyr also has magical powers of persuasion, and she goes the extra step to convince the parents that their real kids don’t have powers. #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-01

The New Mutants are here to fix things, but it takes a wall of text: Basically, they tell the parents that they were keeping the kids safe, and the superpowered versions were just decoys. And then Mirage generates illusory non-powered kids to complete the lie. #marvel #powerpack

The kids arrive at home, and things are pretty dismal: Mom is singing Brahms’ Lullaby (that’s very specific!) to what looks like a doll?? And Dad is in his own world, reciting a litany about how they’re unfit to be parents and their kids don’t have a childhood. #marvel #powerpack

This demonic bus is pretty clever: It even has a sign that says “Bleaker” St., with the quotation marks and everything. Even monstrous animated vehicles can telegraph a pun! But funny or not, Alex quickly disintegrates it. #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-01

The Power Pack kids discover that some of the demonic vehicles are frozen in place. But when Alex tries to disintegrate a bus filled with people, it springs to life! #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-01

The kids also aren’t doing anything to help their parents get through this difficult time: James Power is trying to console his wife, and the kids are going, “…Right now our powers can help save a lot of people!” The guilt really helps! #marvel #powerpack

2025-01-01

This Power Pack story gets pretty dysfunctional pretty quickly: Their parents feel unqualified to tell superheroes what to do, and they feel betrayed that the kids kept their powers secret for so long…so they’re just going to repress everything instead. #marvel #powerpack
