Btw at the #Innovatathon, only one quarter of a Pizza was left, which I am taking home with me. Have you ever seen such well estimated catering? #ProjectHaSI

Today, we celebrated our Innovatathon, Viadrina's first Social Innovation Event. And it was awesome! We had more than 100% of our registered participants on site, even though some had to withdraw their registration - all others came, and more, joining for a day of sharing ideas, creating projects, and imaginating futures by means of art, engagement, and entrepreneurship. I wish all seven, enthralling projects that have been presented today all the best for their future. It will indeed be my next task to work on teaching and other formats to help them continue their work and consolidate their visions - and there shall be another Innovatathon in the future, maybe next time not during exam week (sorry!).
I thank all participants, mentors, our jury, my students, and my incomparable number one in campaigning and assistant facilitator for making this vision of envisioning reality! #SocialInnovation #SocialImpact

If you are interested in finding inspiration for social change or to kick off your project for social impact, come and join the fun! We offer free snacks and beverages, meeting like-minded fellows, interesting challenges, creativity methods (my personal passion), getting in touch with organizations that can support your project, certificates of attendance, a cute, mysterious trophy, and more!
I will introduce the event and its tracks further over the course of the next weeks, so stay tuned and follow - if not me - #projectHaSI.

Today has been another #projectHaSI day. And what a beautiful one it had been. We had the pleasure to listen to an amazing and instructive presentation by Nils Deventer from medialepfade about their experiences with "Jugend hackt", which still taught us a lot about creating safe spaces and code of conduct, keeping up the critique, inviting the less loud and present subjects - and also some #hackathon ideas about how hacker ethics may apply to a social #innovatathon, how participants can get into exchange between teams, and some more ideas to appreciate our participants' efforts! :)
Other than that, not much happened, because we are almost coming at an end. And our Innovatathon, the #Viadrina #SocialInnovation Event is closing in on us, on everyone. We even have the registration already up and running. Maybe this event is for you? Maybe it is for someone you know? Spread the word/link:
Yesterday, our #SocialInnovation Hacks class kicked off organizing their hackathon event! And one could not desire more from their students than this fine group is offering: providing their diverse skills in networking, fundraising, and graphic design - on top of their mandatory assignments of producing promotional text modules and interviewing their peers on the best hackathon they could get! The spirit of HaSI is second to none, and keeps amazing me.
We also discussed the difficile difference between promotional and informational material, and how their eligibility for funding might differ. We sketched out the topical frameworks for our event, ranging from improving their campus as a place for international study and multiculturalism, over a cleaner (and healthier!) city Frankfurt/Słubice, to queer feminist social innovation. The hackathon is going to take place at about mid February. So stay tuned, details are about to follow, and our promotional campaigning is scheduled to start this year! #ProjectHaSI
In today's class, my student's discussed and discovered the art of hackathon - its mysterious ways of creative productivity: its happy happening and constructive misunderstandings between the variety of individuals; the latent schedule of pizza delivery, key notes, and break activities; and ultimately the hackathons capacity to hack itself, to become what it needs to become, vibrating through the plethora of features that have been documented by me and others.
Should our hackathon be called "hackathon" at all? How shall we activate participation, and how to channel its many social innovation topoi.
For now, with all the experiments on creativity and design thinking we have performed, the students will go and "observe" how a hackathon might respond to their fellow students' requirements - and how to hack the hackathon, make it more inclusive and connective to the many obstacles of innovation beyond ideation: regulation, rentability, sustainability, connectivity, and continuation.
You can follow #ProjectHaSI in case you wanna stay tuned on our journey from, with, and to teaching and learning creative, social innovations and the way of hackathon.
However, to highlight its spirit of poststructuralism, its firm faith in self-referentiality and the charism of adamant repetition, HaSI now has also a website:
https://www.europeannewschool.eu/hasi.html
It has even an easter egg, or the very opposite of that, in any way it is our employee of the month and PI of hearts.
Stay creative, stay innovative, be social, be HaSI! Cheers!
Today, I had once again the pleasure of teaching @ens! In today's class we have discussed our experiences and expectations with #creativity. We have solved the nine-dot-problem and explored how deconstruction and pragmatism are powerful philosophies of overcoming hindering heuristics, finding faith in feasibility, and discovering just how much more the parts of sum can be than their pre-interpreted emergence.
Truth be told, I easily get lost in abstract lectures on pragmatism's great insight in the value of tangible lessons - I am lucky to have an enthusiastic class that reminds me to return to the very philosophy I preach and return to teaching by tangible tasks!
So we are ready when we design think our way through to our hackathon event - juggling the particularistic and holistic creativities of invention and innovation. Even with innovation events like a hackathon: #SocialInnovation is but a process of change, demanding constant attention, continuous discussion, and listening sensibility.
