Lautrec: "Calm down, boss! I don't believe they were alive to begin with! Give me SOME credit!"

Lautrec: "If they'd showed any pain response at all, I'd have given them the benefit of the doubt and just subdued them."

Lautrec: "But they DIDN'T. And you heard their speech - it was all debug messages! They reminded me of Trixie, actually..."
Xerian: "Who?"

Lautrec: "Trixie was an evil death robot. And yes, people have called ME that, but she was the real deal. A deadly computer program, part of an illegal robot army built by a mad incubus called The Professor."
Lautrec: "She only had limited AI, pattern matching and logic. No feelings, no soul. Trixie was just a machine in the true sense, not a conscious intellect like you and me."

Lautrec: "I believe the robot I attacked was like that. I hope so, anyway."
Xerian: "I hope you're right. We've had electronic sentience so long, I've never seen much this crude before..."

Rounding the corner, they startle an armed protogen who panics and fires over Xerian's head.
