Rewatching Deep Space 9. After two seasons, there’s only two characters Odo has shown any particular affection for: Quark and Lwaxana.

Which makes the S3 reveal that he’s always been in love with Kira feel misplaced and not particularly foreshadowed. It’s like the writers realized they needed a new romance on the show, but this was before they could have openly gay relationships like Garak and Bashir or Odo and Quark.
