#GPT4 can create, read, and interpret #GEDCOM files with ease. I tested it with a simple #PROMPT ("Create a GEDCOM file for John Smith, born 1863, father unknown, mother was Riley Bower") and it generated a flawless GEDCOM file. To test, I imported it into #RootsMagic, with no issues. Plus, #ChatGPT crafted a family story from a 4-gen GEDCOM export. PROMPT: "Below is a GEDCOM file. I've been using the free version of #RootsMagic for ages. Today, I upgraded to the full, paid version of RM9 thanks to a discount promo during RootsTech. $20 is a great deal!
@sheribush @david @genealogy IMHO Family Historian has always been way ahead of Rootsmagic (7 or 8) and I have tried both. FH7 holds its data in Gedcom format too so your data is not locked away in some proprietary database. Product support from the manufacturers is excellent but the user group FHUG https://www.fhug.org.uk/ is a real bonus. #familyhistorian #rootsmagic #gedcom

Here's what I've done so far;
Setup an account on #FamilySearch and found most of my tree already there!
Gave myself a *gift* subscription to Ancestry.com with a 50% discount. Have to renew it each year, but worth the hassle.
Found #RootsMagic which has free and paid versions and allows downloading (free & paid) from Ancestry. The paid version claims to sync with Ancestry. Just started with it, so far seems good.
