Watched the entire first season of Columbo this week (it’s mesmerizing!) and I’m continually struck by the soundtrack - real live guys playing trombones and timpani and theremins. In my imagination the studios where they recorded this stuff are so smoky you can barely see. It’s not, like, great music, but it’s often better than it needs to be and that studio musician sound is such a distinctive product of its time. #70stv #columbo #studiomusicians
