𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵
Today, on World AIDS Day, we unite to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and honor those affected by this epidemic, especially in Ghana. This year's theme, "Take the Rights Path," emphasizes the importance of upholding human rights to effectively combat HIV/AIDS. It advocates for the removal of barriers that hinder access to healthcare and support for people living with HIV.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮:
- HIV Prevalence: The prevalence of HIV among males aged 15-24 in Ghana is 0.3% as of 2022.
- Global Context: In 2023, approximately 1.3 million people were newly infected with HIV globally.
- Deaths: Globally, there were 630,000 deaths from AIDS-related illnesses in 2023.
Prevention Tips:
- Practice safe intercourse.
- Get tested for STDs and HIV regularly.
- Maintain a single sexual partner.
- Avoid sharing needles.
- Use pre-and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP).
